Krishnamurti

“The life of J Krishnamurti, the philosopher-sage, was of the nature of myth. Young in mind, straight-backed with the majesty and beauty of an ancient Deodhar tree, he wandered around the world, teaching and healing the minds of the vast numbers of young and old, the intellectual and the simple human being, who came to him overburdened with conflict and sorrow.

Krishnamurti was born in Madanapalle, a small town in Andhra Pradesh, as the eighth child of a Telugu Brahmin government official. The signs of his mystical nature were evident in him from early childhood. His mother died when he was young. Though he was vague and uninterested in studies, often beaten at schools, his father had noticed an unusual capacity in the child for silence, observation and attention. He describes the boy Krishnamurti …

Naimisam

Naimisam , the J Krishnamurti Retreat Centre , Hyderabad is envisioned as a centre for learning and simple living. It provides a serene ambience for exploring the fundamental questions of life.

In the last years of his life, Krishnamurti was deeply concerned that there be Centres where adults could go and study the Teachings in a serene atmosphere without the authority of any guru or of any doctrine, “..for the Teachings themselves are the expression of that Truth which serious people must find for themselves.”

Programs

“Have a complete break with the past and see what happens. Sirs, do it and you will see delight, you will see vast expanses of love, understanding and freedom. When your heart is open, then reality can come. Then whisperings of your own prejudices, your own noises are not heard. That is why it is good to take a retreat, to go away, and to stop the routine, not only routine of the outer existence but routine which the mind establishes for its own safety and convenience…….”
~J Krishnamurti

Our experiences melt into the single crucible of the self. The resultant alchemy that develops transforms the way we perceive and understand even ordinary activities….”

Evelyn Blau:  What relationship did Krishnamurti’s presence have with the teaching?

Dorothy Simmons: Well, he was the Teachings, although I hesitate to use the word “teachings”. It makes it finite and I think this was an ongoing quest, adventure and, in this , he personified …..he was the teachings . He lived it, by the care and attention he gave to everything and the depth of his passion and his affection and love for mankind …You felt leavened by his presence .
